UPCOMING NACCM EVENTS

by mikeluzadder

Someone utters a word or two in the presence of another, perhaps not even the intended listener. This causes some gray matter to reconsider – or more likely to simply consider – a point.

I think of the conversations in which we are routinely engaged that will provoke eternal changes. We answer and answer and answer and then give the answer yet another way. If we’re good at what we do, we lead young minds to form conclusions they can own.

And we love this because we are convinced that these seemingly insignificant conversations benefit the kingdom – a bit like a snow-ball to an avalance.

Each year the NACCM hosts two events intended to start conversations…and hopefully avalanches.

Campus Ministers’ Retreat:  Relaxation certainly is a goal as is the ultra-important shooting-of-bulls with like-minded campus ministers. Another goal is to pour some lightning-hot adrenaline through tired veins. Have you seen that Alan Hirsch is coming to the Campus Ministry Retreat June 2-5? Have you made the necessary arrangements to be a part of that conversation?  While electricity cannot be guaranteed (a reference to last year, for those absent), I feel secure in declaring that adrenaline will overflow and that this event will loom large later. Alliteration makes one giddy, huh? The cost soars by $25 on May 1, which is much closer than you think.

National Student Conference: It’s August 1-5 in Evansville with Shane Wood speaking, (if you’ve never heard Shane…you can check it his stuff out here), and Dave Dykes & the Greatful Hearts leading us in worship (check out Dave’s music here), along with a host of intentionally designed workshops, and all tied together with the theme “Using Your Own Spoon”. We want to spur our students to take personal responsibility for their spiritual maturity, train them in the use of important tools, and inspire them to engage in helping their peers do the same. We need to know how many you are bringing by July 1.

HIS peace to you as the semester wraps up,
